Weekend Running Events

This weekend was a lot of fun! We first went out for a trail hill repeat run on Saturday. If you like my blog's Facebook page you already know that Mike rolled his ankle while out on the trails, unfortunately. He is feeling better but will take it easy for the next few days.

After the run we went out to breakfast with two running friends. It was great chatting with both of them!

Then, we went over to Amber and Greg's because our friend Isaac was in town!

A few months ago Amber and Greg came up with the idea of an unofficial marathon for Greg to run prior to the Boston Marathon in April. He didn't want to register for a marathon so Amber organized the event and Isaac drove from Maine to run the marathon as well.

We hung out with the three of them last night and then this morning we went to help out with the event. Mike and I were responsible for getting runners across a busy intersection safely, and I decided to run in between the first and second loops (Amber had made the race course a two-loop marathon).

There were a few people running the half marathon in addition to Greg and Isaac running the full marathon.

My own run went really well! I ran 8.75 miles at 8:25 pace and I was able to catch up to three of the half marathoners (and I may have sped up a little bit in order to do so!) When I got to the end of my run Mike was cheering me on as well as our friends' two kids. We also brought Bernie, our dog, with us and Mike and the girls had been playing with him on the playground while they were waiting for everyone.

We spent the rest of our time cheering on everyone who finished up their respective races and then hung out at Amber and Greg's after to celebrate after the event!

 Everyone finishing up their races!

The marathoners high-five!

It is nice to know we have found friends who enjoy running (and triathlons) as much as we do!

  3. Sorry Mike rolled his ankle. I'm impressed with your pace for your run!! And that's so cool that your friends put together an unofficial marathon! I kind of want to put something together like that.

  4. What an AWESOME weekend!!! I was glad I could be a part of it. I made some rookie mistakes in this marathon, but still had a great time and it still ended up being my 2nd fastest. Thanks for everything!!!
