Closing in on 1,000 Miles

I only have 9.9 miles to go to hit 1,000 for the year! I'm really happy that I am going to accomplish this goal and I already have a mileage goal in mind for next year.  You're going to have to wait until I do my 2013 goals post to find out how much, though!

Today Mike and I ran with Isaac, who is awesome by the way and going to run the Mount Desert Island marathon with us in October.  He had 11 miles on his training schedule (for the Boston Marathon, yea he's FAST) so he ran 4 miles before we met up with him.

 Pretty!

We had decided to run around Eagle Lake on the Carriage Roads.  My mom and dad told us to go to the right because even though there was a hill it was gradual and the downhill was better than going the other way.

The uphill was tough but I really enjoyed that downhill!  Even though it was 25 degrees outside, I almost immediately took my hat and gloves off.  Mike and Isaac thought I was crazy!

The run around the lake is a little less than 6 miles and I had wanted to reach single digits left to go to 1,000 so we added on a little bit more to get to 7.1 miles (for me and Mike).

 All done!

We took a new photo of the three of us, so that I don't have to keep using the one from the summer, and we went our separate ways.  Hopefully we'll get to see Isaac in April at Boston, if not we'll definitely see him sometime in the summer!

Now we're just relaxing and hanging out with my family for the rest of the day.  Tomorrow we'll run with my mom and I'll be that much closer to my goal!

How are you staying active this holiday season?

  5. Congrats!! I'm thinking about making my 2013 goal 1,000 miles. Has it been hard to hit? Have you had to put in a ton of runs when they weren't on training plans? I'm just wondering how hard it'll be in Florida summers. What a pretty lake to run around! It must have been so serene.

    1. We had training plans from March-ish for our first triathlon through the end of September when we ran our marathon. We ran pretty consistently from January to March, increasing our long run on the weekends and then we've had races October-December. My lowest mileage months were 63 (two of them) and my highest was 130. I would say it is pretty easy to do as long as you are consistent. I had some weeks with as low as 9 miles though and I'll still do it :)
