Wedding Memories: The Reception

Today is our actual anniversary.  Two years ago I married the most amazing person I have ever known, and will ever know.  We have only grown stronger in these last two years and I can't wait to see what the future brings!  Happy Anniversary, Mike!  I love you, always and forever.

Our timeline was pretty tight especially since our ceremony location and reception location were about 20 minutes away from each other.  After taking some group photos, we left Kershaw Park in Canandaigua and made our way to the Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford.

Some of us in the limo

When we arrived we took a few more photos and then got in line for our entrances.

I "proposed" to all of the bridesmaids with ring pops when I asked them to be in the wedding

We didn't have the flower girl and the ring bearer participate in the entrances, although I'm sure that the flower girl would have LOVED to join.

We did things a little bit differently and asked everyone to think of a short dance into the reception, I really wish I could show you the video of their dances but out of respect for their privacy I won't.  The song that started the party was "In the Ayer" by Flo Rida.

Then, we were being introduced as Mr. and Mrs.!

And all of a sudden, the music changed to "O.M.G." by Usher and this happened...

After everyone settled down, we heard two amazing speeches by our Matron of Honor and Best Man.

After dinner it was time to cut some cake!

We were relatively nice to each other!

We cut the cake with the song "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" by Cake playing in the background

After we cleaned up, we continued on to our first dance.  We danced to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.

Then, it was my and my dad's turn.  Our father-daughter dance was to "Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright III.  This was the only point during our wedding that I cried.

Mike and his mom ended the formal dances with their mother-son dance.  They danced to part of "Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (Since it is so long we cut it short somewhere in the middle).

Then everyone hit the dance floor!

Here's our youngest guest, hard to believe he will be 3 soon!

We did do the traditional bouquet toss and garter toss, but we did them a little bit differently.  I asked all the women to come out because they were all really important to me, a single woman still caught the bouquet though! (Oh and I was so horrible at the toss that I hit the ceiling the first time and had to do it twice!)

Mike started the garter toss with a little twist of his own.  He re-enacted the scene from "Wayne's World" where Garth dances in the diner to "Foxy Lady" by Jimi Hendrix.  I knew it was going to happen but it was still entertaining!

My friend, Suzie, and my mom and dad did a great job setting everything up for our reception.  I was really appreciative of everything that they did for us!

Stay tuned for next time when I recap our honeymoon!
