This morning after I ran 5 miles at marathon pace, well almost the first mile was a little speedy but the rest were all around 9:38 pace, I wanted to have a smoothie. Unfortunately we are running low on frozen fruit but we did have some pineapple and peaches in the freezer (at first I thought the peaches were mango but good thing they weren't).
Tropical Protein Smoothie
1 cup orange juice
1 scoop GNC Pro Performance Casein Protein - vanilla flavor
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup frozen peaches
I added the ingredients in the order listed and blended. I had to stir it with a spoon a few times since the peaches were stuck together!
This smoothie hit the spot! I like how the vanilla added a nice flavor that made it seem even more tropical than just the fruit and juice. I think this is how I am going to use this protein powder because I actually like the flavor better than just plain (which I have tried too). It wasn't too thick and could probably be even thinner if you added more juice/fruit. If you did that it might be more appropriate for two people, since the amount in the photo is how much the original recipe made.
I would love to know your protein shake/smoothie recipes, what's your favorite? I kind of want to try one with blueberries next, stay tuned!
