Three Things Thursday

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday! This week seems like it is flying by for me, which is great since I only have about three weeks left until I am on vacation!

Today seemed like an appropriate day to do a Three Things Thursday post so here you go:

1. The Demise of Google Friend Connect

I'm sure you are aware, and if you aren't you are going to be now, of Google's decision to get rid of Google Friend Connect on March 1st. This only applies to non-blogger users but it could cause a problem for all of you if it is the only way you follow your favorite blogs.

No worries though, there are plenty of ways that you can stay connected with me!

Keep connected!

Over there on the right sidebar I have three ways you can keep up with everything going on here. Blogger recently added the follow by email feature and I think it might have been in response to losing Google Friend Connect. If you would like to keep getting your daily (or semi-daily) dose of From Couch to Ironwoman make sure you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or by email (or all three, I won't judge). If there are any other ways you would like to follow me, let me know!

2. My first international race!

Do you read Running with Spatulas? If not, you should. Ali is extremely funny and she has the cutest kid and dog (with the exception of Bernie)! I noticed a little while ago that she was asking for a relay teammate for her 3-person 30K relay team and I jumped at the chance to run with her.

Ali is from Canada, which means that on March 25th I will run in my first international race!

International race? Don't mind if I do.

Each of us will run a 10K and I can't wait! I'm so excited to meet Ali and run for team Spatula Runners! Mike was planning on running in the 5K, but it just sold out! He is going to make a great cheerleader though.

3. Virtual Run

Yesterday I ran a speedy 2 mile run for Maine Mom on the Run's Runniversary!

You should do it too!

After a fast 6.24 mile run on Tuesday (57:58 with 9:17 average pace), I wasn't sure how I wanted to do the 2 miler. I had intentions of taking it easy, but when I started I was at 9:00 pace and thought about how far Carrie has come and decided to go for it.

In the end I did the 2 miler in 17:35 with an average pace of 8:47. I'm pretty sure my paces (I don't have my watch with me right now) were 8:52 and 8:43. Negative splitting, not bad! If you want to do it too you have until February 14th!

Tonight I am going to take the night off and do Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I'm hoping to do a review on that soon and there might possibly be something in it for those of you who are doing my virtual race. Hint, hint. (Go ahead and register for it if you haven't yet!)

How is your Thursday going?

  1. Thanks for remind me - I have to do that virtual race - I'll do it right now on the tready :D Logan is FINALLY ASLEEP!

I am so excited that you are speedy and that you are coming to race with me :) Colin and Logan will be cheering too so Mike can hang out with them. To be honest when you started asking me all these questions about the relay I realized I have no CLUE what to do I know where to go ?!?! I'm going to email the race director and figure this out.

You have a nice beach section on the race (the middle) there's a map of the course on the website and hopefully we will plan everything well in advance xox

    1. Haha I'm not that speedy! Mike will have fun hanging out with Colin and Logan, it will be good that he won't be alone.

Our hotel is booked and Bernie is all set for boarding! Now it just needs to be March 25th!

  2. Love that you and Ali will get to run together, how fun! And that is an awesome 2 mile run, way to go!! That reminds me that I have 4 miles to run from a Superbowl bet that was going around... need to get that done. :)

    1. It is going to be so much fun, I can't wait!

Thanks, I was pretty surprised at how fast I ran it. I saw that bet, but I didn't partake in it!

  3. I just wanted to say "Congrats! to my first Pampered Runner winner!" Stop by and see what's next!

I am so sad Google Friend Connect is going away as it is so easy to use.....but I will just need to learn to go the other routes and I know I will be fine.

    1. Thank you so much for the package, I can't wait!

I know it's a little bit disappointing but at least there are so many other ways to keep in the loop!

  4. How exciting to get to run an international race! I can't wait to read about the race and trip.

    1. Thank you so much! It is going to be a lot of fun and I'm sure we will both have plenty of pictures!
