It's Thursday

Want to hear about three things? Sounds like a good plan to me!

1. Today's Workout

I got in a quick workout today during one of my two hour breaks at work. I have been enjoying running at work the last few weeks and I hope that next quarter (yes we are a quarter system college, but not for much longer) I will have a few two hour breaks here and there.

Since I was a little sore from Tuesday's workout and doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred yesterday, I decided to just do an easy three mile run. The nice thing about where I work is that the loop is almost a 5K! I ended up doing 9:34, 9:29 and 9:36. The last mile included the one hill on the route.

Overall it went well and I was glad that my "easy" paces were in the 9 minute range!

2. Pampered Runner Package

Last week I was surprised to find out that I had won Life as a Running Mom's pampered runner giveaway! (If you want a chance to win she is doing two other giveaways on February 22 and February 29, enter here!)

I guess I didn't realize where she was from because I was surprised to find out she lives in Hawaii (the "aloha" in an email gave it away)! Even though we live on opposite sides of the country my package arrived today and inside were tons of goodies!

My lovely package!

It included a wrap mat, samples of sunscreen and hand sanitizer, Mandarin Orange Gu, a candle, lavender essential oil and a nice card.

Since my muscles were sore I enjoyed the lavender essential oil in my Epsom salt bath tonight. I had purchased the cheaper unscented Epsom salt at Wegmans so this added a nice scent to it!

Thanks again for this lovely package, I definitely feel pampered!

3. Clean Food Challenge

Do you read One Mom in Maine? Well if not, you should! Her blog was one of the earlier ones that I started reading, even before I was blogging, and I noticed that she hosted a Clean Food Challenge. This is what sparked my idea for trying either a juice cleanse or a clean cleanse this year!

Emilie just wrote a post announcing that the third CFC will take place starting February 27th and I think I am going to participate! The entire challenge will run for 7 days, but I might have to start a day early or only do 6 days since my birthday is on March 4th (remember to sign up for my virtual race) and I will most likely want to enjoy something that isn't allowed during the CFC.

Mike won't be participating 100% but he is going to have to eat a few clean food meals! Anyone else want to join in? Check out her post about it!

How was/is your Thursday? Any clean food recipes you would like to share with me?

    1. You should do it with me!

The lavender smelled really nice and it reminded me of my grandmother since she loves lavender!

  2. I can never do a clean eating challenge. It would be too much of an uphill battle. I admire everyone who can though.

    1. That's alright! Limiting processed foods is a good thing though!

  3. I am so jealous that you can run during the middle of the day! I wish I had the time to do that. I got my full 4 miles in this morning despite feeling like I'm coming down with something. I'm excited for the weekend and my first 8 mile run!

    1. It is definitely going to be difficult! I eat a peanut butter and jam sandwich almost every day for lunch so I'm not so sure what I will substitute.

    1. I was definitely thrilled with all of my goodies!

I don't think clean eating will ever be probable at our house either, but I know I can do it for a week!

  6. Yay for winning packages! I'll have to check out her blog... we try to eat clean, but not 100%. A challenge like that would be good for me! I might also do the vegan challenge for March at Run to the finish, and usually give up sweets for lent, yikes... could be an interesting few weeks!

    1. I saw the Vegan challenge, I don't know if I could do that for an entire month! Mike is already nice enough to me for just eating chicken and turkey.

    1. Here's a website I found http://deliciousdishesrecipes.com/clean-eating-list-of-foods/

But it definitely varies since the Greek yogurt is a no-no on this challenge since we can't have dairy, sugar, alcohol, gluten or processed foods. And you are only supposed to have organic lean meat, but I might have to forgo the organic because it is pricy.
