The new things this week were my indoor cycling class and the Jillian Michaels DVD.
I don't like that I had one day where I didn't rack up any points, but Tall Mom's Challenge will nip that in the bud the rest of December.
Yesterday Mike and I braved the 30 degree weather for a 2 mile run. We averaged a 9:28 pace, which is actually pretty speedy for me. See, he does motivate me!
Today we tried something else new! We attempted a track workout.

We had originally wanted to do a 5 mile run, but when I suggested running along the canal path Mike didn't like that idea. I then suggested a speed workout and he was game!
We started out with a 1 mile warm-up run around the track and attempted to do 8 x 400s.

We went the opposite direction because of the wind, if you were wondering about the pictures.

My turn!
My turn!
Well, I already gave it away but we didn't do 8 x 400s. I only did 2 and Mike did 4. My stomach started to bother me after the second one and I don't want to aggravate my ankle too much.
Mike's times:
1 - 1:40
2 - 1:39
3 - 1:35
4 - 1:36
My times:
1 - 1:53
2 - 2:01
Not too bad for our first time doing a speed/track workout! I know that next time we do it I will be able to do more than two but since we aren't really training for anything I'm not disappointed in today's workout. Plus, I did day 3 of Jillian Michaels!
Have you tried anything new lately?

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Run to the Finish and am loving it. Wow you are so brave to tackle an Iron(wo)man! I've recently decided to try a Half Marathon in May so I appreciate your perspective on things. Any suggests for newish runners/bloggers?
Thanks,
Sam

Hmmmm... anything new... just running different routes around my neighborhood when I have to run alone!! Wow... glad you guys decided to do a track workout!!! Maybe you could try a tempo run next?! Warmup for like a mile, and then do about 15 minutes at a faster pace than your usual training pace, then, cooldown for a mile.
ReplyDeleteI love me some Jillian!! Great job on your week!
ReplyDeleteWow! Taking on ironman? I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog! Super cool you used to live in Maine. I love the MDI area and I'm actually going to be running the MDI Marathon next year. :) Let me know what Maine races you'll be running - maybe we'll meet up!!!
Bernie is a cutie! What a great week for you with HBBC! I'm behind on updating my points but this past week was definitely better for me.
ReplyDeleteI want to try a spin class soon.
