Seven Things Tuesday: Facebook and Another Blogger's Giveaway

Today is Tuesday so you know what that means, Seven Things Tuesday!

It's Fall

As much as I don't want to admit it (I'm a summer lover), it is officially fall here in Western New York. The leaves are changing, the temperature is getting cooler and I have already had two Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks, yum! As much as I don't like the cooler seasons, I am loving the temps while running! There were a few times this summer when Mike and I ran in 95 degree weather (bad idea) and I am so glad that I don't have to deal with that for awhile.

I Finished Born to Run

I'm cool like that

Today around 3:30pm, I finished Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and let me just say that it was AMAZING! I started reading it two weeks ago and I enjoyed every word. I will most likely do a short book review on it in a future post after I have had time to fully digest its awesomeness. I would definitely recommend that you pick up a copy, don't worry mom you can borrow it!

Awesome Running Clothes I Want

While browsing other runners' blogs and facebook pages, I found two items of running clothes that I really want!

First up: rundies made by Oiselle, found on Tall Mom on the Run's blog (more about her soon). These are just too cute and I would totally wear them every day of the week! Check them out!

I also love this "You Just Got Chicked" short sleeve shirt by Chicked. They have some other cute clothes for women and even have one shirt for men, maybe Mike would wear it! If you didn't know "chicking" is when a female athlete passes a male athlete.

I'm on Facebook

I'm not sure if you are aware but From Couch to Ironwoman is on facebook! I would love it if you would show me some facebook love, so go ahead and click "like".

Fun Giveaway

I just mentioned her but Tall Mom has a pretty awesome giveaway going on right now. She is going to hook one reader up with the Oiselle Start Line Tee. It's a pretty cute shirt, you should check out her giveaway!

A "Final" Plea for Teammates

This will probably be the last time I ask for teammates in a "Seven Things Tuesday" post, so let me know if you are interested in running in what looks like a really awesome relay. We currently have four people who are most likely committed and one person who has expressed interest. That leaves potentially two to three spots that need to be filled. Email me at fromcouchtoironwoman@gmail.com if you want to run some miles and hang out with other awesome runners while doing it!

Our Run Tonight

I look tired

Today called for 5 miles. I waited until we knew what Mike's schedule was going to be for the rest of the week before "deciding" what we were going to do. At first I texted him and said that we could just run tomorrow instead of today. Then I changed my mind and said that we could do our three mile run instead. Later it turned into just seeing how we felt and maybe doing our 5 mile run, which is what we ended up doing.

We just ran around the house and since we both finished work around 6pm and didn't get going until almost 7pm, I decided to wear our headlamp for the first time. It didn't help too much because most of the time we were running in areas with street lamps, but in the areas without them I was thankful that I was wearing it.

Other than the fact that my feet hurt a little bit this run was pretty uneventful. I definitely took advantage of my ability to mentally zone out and just focus on running. In the end I am glad that we did 5 miles!

Here are the stats:

Lap 1 - 10:47 pace
Lap 2 - 10:45 pace
Lap 3 - 10:52 pace
Lap 4 - 10:30 pace
Lap 5 - 10:30 pace

Total Time: 53:26.51
Average Pace: 10:41 minutes per mile

The time was so close to my 5 mile PR! I can't wait to run another 5 miler when I am feeling better, and a course with less hills wouldn't hurt.

What were your seven things today?

  2. Nothing wrong with typical! You should definitely get a Pumpkin Spice Latte or the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino if it is a little bit warmer out.

  4. Well in my opinion a pumpkin whoopie pie would be better!

Good seven things, Mike and I should go to Letchworth and take some pictures of the foliage before it turns brown and gross!
